Future Lord Byron swims 200 years after his ancestor.
May 6th, 2010

The Honourable Charles Byron successfully completed the swim 200 years to the day in honour of his forebear, the English poet Lord Byron.

He said “It has been a wonderful experience to see that there are so many people that have been inspired by my ancestor to take part in this incredible, albeit chilly swim.  Although I was originally asked to do this because of my relationship to Byron, this also became a personal challenge as I was unsure whether I would do justice to the Byron name and complete the swim, so to have achieved swimming the Hellespont has made feel enormously proud plus I have also raised over £2,000 for the “Help the Heroes”’charity.
